Washington, DC – January 21 – The Center of Ukrainian Church Studies at The Catholic University of America hosted a small campus gathering to provide an opportunity for the Catholic University’s staff, faculty, and students to meet and welcome the newest cohort of the St. Gabriel’s Institute. The Very Rev. Fr. Mark Morozowich, Director of the Center for Ukrainian Church Studies, welcomed the new students and spoke about the goals and direction of the St. Gabriel’s Institute. Many came to meet new students and welcome them into the University’s family.
The Saint Gabriel Institute, established under the leadership of Archbishop Borys Gudziak, responds to the growing need for skilled Church representatives to witness the life of the Church in the public sphere, including diplomacy, communications, and public policy. In partnership with the Department of External Church Relations of the UGCC, Ukrainian Catholic University, Catholic University of America, Georgetown University, and the Center for the Ukrainian Church Studies, the Institute prepares clergy and lay leaders to effectively advocate for the Church and its mission in today’s global environment. The program, shaped by the challenges of the war in Ukraine, trains individuals to engage in faith-based diplomacy, represent Christian values in international affairs, and develop effective communication strategies to promote truth, justice, and religious freedom.
